Ice had been getting worse for about a year, small hollow things that crushed between two fingers. I assumed the maker was finished. He measured pressure at the valve, found the fill tube half closed with scale, and that was the whole story. Water out here is hard.

Short version, the Wolf was not broken, it was heating to the wrong number. I had been adding half an hour to everything for a year and blaming myself. He put a probe at rack level, read it against the sensor and set it right. Should have called much sooner.
